흄의 도덕론과 관망자
이 글은 흄의 도덕론을 ‘관망자’를 중심으로 탐구한다. 그의 ‘관망자’ 는 감정과 공감의 편파성을 극복하는 도덕관점이다. 즉, 각자는 개인적 입장을 넘어 ‘관망자’로서(또는 ‘관망자의 일반적 관점’에서) 도덕 감정 을 느끼고 또 공감하며, 그를 통해 도덕성을 적절히 판정할 수 있다. 나아가 ‘관망자’의 구체적 의미를 효용성(공공복리)에서 구했다. ‘관망 자’는 공공복리의 관점에서, 자연적 덕 그리고 인위적 덕 모두를 (서로 상이한 맥락에서) 시인한다.
Hume's Moral Theory and Spectator
In this article, Hume's ‘spectator’ is interpreted as a moral perspective that overcomes the partiality of emotion and sympathy. Each person has moral sentiments and sympathizes with others not as an individual, but as a ‘spectator’ (or from the ‘general points of view of a spectator’), and through this, morality can be judged appropriately. Furthermore, the specific meaning of ‘the spectator’ is derived from utility(public welfare). From the perspective of public welfare, ‘the spectator’ approves both natural virtue and artificial virtue (in different contexts).
