초등학생들의 인류 성원으로서의 정체성이 북한이탈주민에 대한 태도 형성에 미치는 영향
본 연구는 초등학생들의 도덕적 공동체 의식 중, ‘다양성 수용’이 작 동하는 방식에 대하여 탐색하는 데 그 목적을 둔다. 도덕적 공동체 의 식을 체계적으로 형성하게 되는 초등학생들이 자신을 ‘인류’라는 사회 적 범주로 정의하는 ‘인류 성원으로서의 정체성’이 다양성 수용의 결과 로서 북한이탈주민에 대한 태도 형성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 탐색 했다. 연구 결과, ‘모든 인류 성원과의 동일시’(IWAH) 수준이 높은 학 생일수록 북한이탈주민에 대한 태도 점수가 더 높았다. 또한 인류 성 원으로서의 정체성은 북한이탈주민에 대한 태도에 정적인 영향을 미쳤 다. 이러한 경험적 근거를 토대로 본 연구는 상위의 사회적 범주에 토대를 둔 재범주화, 종국적으로는 ‘인류’라는 최상위 사회적 범주로 자 신을 정의하는 인류 성원으로서의 정체성이 도덕적 공동체 의식의 ‘다 양성 수용’의 측면을 설명하는 심리적 기제가 될 수 있음을 제안한다.
Effects of Identification With All Humanity on Elementary School Students’ Attitude toward Defectors from North Korea
The study aims to explore the psychological mechanism of ‘acceptance of diversity’, an aspects of moral consciousness of community. Specifically, we examined the effect of ‘Identification With All Humanity’(IWAH) on the attitude toward defectors from North Korea. As a result, The more strongly students identified themselves with humanity, the more positive their attitude toward defectors from North Korea became. In addition, the increased level of Identification With All Humanity had influence on improving attitude toward defectors from North Korea. Based on these empirical results, the authors suggest that it is possible to apply recategorization, especially ‘Identification With All Humanity’, as a psychological mechanism for the acceptance of diversity of the moral consciousness of community.
