인식론적 덕으로서 열린 마음에 대한 연구
본 연구에서는 덕 인식론에서 주요한 인식론적 덕으로 다뤄지는 열 린 마음의 의미를 탐색하고, 도덕 교육에서 어떠한 의의를 지니고 있 는지를 제안하고자 하였다. 열린 마음을 가진 행위자는 주변의 다른 견해에 대한 인식, 모든 견해에 대한 공정한 기회 부여 및 검토, 기존 의 관점에서 분리 혹은 초월하여 생각하는 특성을 보일 것으로 생각할 수 있다. 열린 마음의 의미를 바탕으로 겸손, 호기심, 관용, 공감과의 관련성을 검토하였다. 열린 마음은 고유한 인식론적 덕목으로, 열린 마 음을 익히도록 하기 위해서는 모범적인 사례를 통한 열린 마음의 개념 이해, 열린 마음의 모범적인 행위 도출, 지속적인 연습이 필요하다.
A Study of Open-mindedness as an Epistemic Virtue
In this study, I attempted to explore the meaning of open-mindedness, which is treated as a major epistemic virtue in virtue epistemology, and suggest what significance it has in moral education. An open-minded agent can be expected to exhibit characteristics such as awareness of other views around him, examining all views fairly, and thinking independently or beyond existing perspectives. Based on the meaning of open-mindedness, I examined its relationship with humility, curiosity, tolerance, and empathy. Since open-mindedness is a unique epistemological virtue, it is necessary to understand the concept of open-mindedness through exemplary cases, derive exemplary actions of open-mindedness, and learn open-mindedness through continuous practice.
