피터 싱어의 쾌락 공리주의와 동물 해방론
피터 싱어는 선호 공리주의자에서 쾌락 공리주의자로 전향한다. 그 는 선호 공리주의에 근거하여 이익 평등 고려의 원칙을 제시하고 이익 평등 고려의 원칙에 근거하여 동물 평등론과 동물 해방론을 주장하기 때문에 쾌락 공리주의자로의 전향은 그의 동물 해방론의 전체 논증에 도 영향을 준다. 본 논문은 싱어의 쾌락 공리주의자로의 전환이 그의 동물 평등론과 동물 해방론에 어떤 영향을 주는지를 살펴본다. 그 결 과 싱어의 전환이 선호 공리주의에 근거한 동물 해방론의 문제점을 일 부 해결하지만 완전히 해결하지는 못한다고 주장한다.
P. Singer’s Hedonistic Utilitarianism and the Theory of Animal Liberation
P. Singer changes his ethical positions from preference utilitarianism to hedonistic utilitarianism. Since he proposes Principle of the Equal Consideration of Interests based on preference utilitarianism and advocates animal equality and animal liberation based on Principle of the Equal Consideration of Interests, the change to pleasure utilitarian also affects the entire argument of his theory of animal liberation. This paper examines the affect which Singer's change to hedonistic utilitarianism has on his theory of animal equality and animal liberation.
